About the role

The Educational Technologist at La Pietra–Hawaii School for Girls must have a passion for technology. They will play a pivotal role in integrating technology seamlessly into our educational environment. This hybrid teaching and leadership role is a 12-month position that involves staying informed about current educational trends and collaborating closely with the Director of Curricular Innovation and the Dean of Academics & Faculty.  

What you’ll do

Technology Integration

  • Lead teachers in effectively incorporating technology across the curriculum, ensuring a dynamic and engaging learning experience. 
  • Lead in identifying and implementing school software and hardware changes as needed.
  • Lead training and development of faculty and staff for proficiency in use of school software and hardware.
  • Support students and teachers in their day-to-day technology use and needs.
  • Support students in effectively using technology. 

Instruction

  • Ability to teach technology-focused courses based on current trends and school needs.
  • Ability to balance the needs of a hybrid teaching and leadership position. 

Professional Development

  • Provide training sessions for faculty to enhance their proficiency in using educational technology tools, promoting continuous learning and growth.
  • Willingness to research, identify, and attend professional development for themselves to enhance and grow their learning. 
  • Be part of and engage with a larger network of educational technologists. 

Current Trends and Best Practices

  • Stay abreast of the latest educational trends and best practices in educational technology integration.
  • Identify and implement innovative strategies to enhance the overall learning environment. 
  • Investigate and implement the application of artificial intelligence (AI) and extended reality (XR) in educational settings, fostering a cutting-edge approach to teaching and learning.

Collaboration

  • Work closely with the Director of Curricular Innovation to align technology initiatives with the school’s educational goals and objectives.
  • Work closely with teachers to integrate technology into their classrooms.
  • Work closely with staff to leverage technology to enhance their workflow and outcomes. 

Leadership

  • Take a leadership role in advancing the school’s position as a leader in technology innovation and integration.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of a strategic plan for technology.

Who you are 

The ideal candidate will be experienced and innovative, and able to produce results throughout the range of curricular activities in a lean organization. You can embrace in and lead out on: 

  • You have a proven ability to collaborate effectively with individuals at all levels in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong knowledge of current educational technology trends and best practices. 
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and augmented reality (AR).

The Baseline requirements and qualifications 

  • You understand and appreciate the context of an all-girls school, and the history, culture and diversity of Hawai’i.
  • You strive for excellence in yourself and your team but aren't afraid to stumble and learn
  • You are flexible, reliable and excited to work with and on a diverse and stellar team  
  • You communicate clearly in person, in writing and in written form 
  • You have a Bachelor’s degree in Education, Education Technology, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • You have taught in a classroom full-time for at least 5 years.
  • You have at least 5 years of experience in educational technology and school leadership.
  • You have a strong knowledge of current educational technology trends and best practices.
