La Pietra – Hawai’i School for Girls is proud to announce the return of its gala fundraiser, HOOPLA, on Saturday, April 5, 2025! This dazzling evening will celebrate 60 years of empowering young women through an all-girls education at La Pietra, set against the stunning backdrop of Lēʻahi (Diamond Head).
This year’s theme, Diamonds at Diamond Head – Denim Required, promises an unforgettable night filled with casino games, live music, a whiskey tasting, and a thrilling live auction. Guests will enjoy delicious food and drinks while raising funds to support financial aid, ensuring more young women have access to a La Pietra education.
Adding to the evening’s significance, HOOPLA will spotlight Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey, a brand rooted in history and resilience. Nathan “Nearest” Green, the formerly enslaved man who taught Jack Daniel how to distill, is now honored through this award-winning whiskey brand. For generations, his story was nearly forgotten—until Fawn Weaver, a visionary entrepreneur and historian, uncovered his history and made it her mission to share it with the world. She made history herself in 2017 as the first Black woman to lead a major whiskey company—paving the way for more women in the spirits industry.
La Pietra is dedicated to empowering future women leaders, making it especially meaningful to spotlight a brand that shares this commitment to breaking barriers. As guests raise their glasses to history and progress, they’ll also be raising their paddles in support of educational opportunities for the next generation.
