From July 8th to 19th, 2024, between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m., La Pietra's TechZone will host a robotics program tailored for students in grades 6-12 for the 2024-2025 school year. This enriching experience offers an immersive exploration of robotics fundamentals through hands-on projects, with space limited to ensure a personalized learning environment. Additionally, students are welcome to extend their time in TechZone for free play until 1 p.m., providing an opportunity for further exploration beyond the structured program.
Participants will cultivate practical skills, enriching both their academic journey and future endeavors. Snacks will be provided during the two-week program, which carries a fee of $150 and is intended for enrichment rather than academic credit. Space is limited, so register today to secure your spot!

Students will explore the following topics:
- Introduction to Robotics - History of LEGO NXT Robotics, definition, types, and world applications
- Electronics and Mechanics - Electronics basics, motors, servos, sensors, and NXT controllers
- Programming - Introduction to programming with Lego Mindstorm, control structures, understanding functions, libraries, debugging, and robotics programming
- Sensing and Perception - Understand differences in digital and analog sensors.
Students will work on a group project that will challenge them to apply the concepts learned in class to real-world problems. The project work will be done under the supervision of Coconut Wireless Network whose experienced mentors will guide students and provide feedback.

PROGRAM DETAILS
Running from June 12 - July 3, 2024 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and open to girls in grades 6-12, La Pietra's free Pathways to Purpose summer program integrates classroom-based reflection with real-world experiences. The transformative three-week program will explore diverse agricultural sites around Oʻahu, seamlessly blending interactive sessions with immersive, technology-focused learning experiences. Students attending high school in the 2024-2025 school year will receive credit for the program, which will be reported on transcripts.
Immersive Learning with Industry Experts:
- Engage in dynamic sessions with industry professionals three times a week.
- Gain firsthand exposure to diverse perspectives and practices at community partner sites across O‘ahu.
Balanced Approach for Transformative Growth:
- Structured weekly schedule alternating between off-site engagement and on-campus reflection at La Pietra.
- Mondays and Fridays at La Pietra campus focus on information gathering, processing experiences, and crafting individual projects.
