Upper School
In Grades 9-12, a typical schedule consists of three academic core courses and one elective course.
9th Grade
The 9th grade program includes Intro to Literature & Composition, Physics, Algebra 1 or Geometry, World History: Ancient, World Language (Chinese or Spanish), Upper School P.E., Intro to Women's & Gender Studies, and Fine Arts electives.
10th Grade
The 10th grade program includes World Literature, Geometry or Algebra 2, World History: Modern, Chemistry, World Language (Chinese or Spanish), Health & Society, Upper School P.E., and Fine Arts electives.
11th Grade
The 11th grade program includes English, Math, US History, Biology, Upper School P.E., Junior Seminar and electives. For college planning purposes, World Language (Chinese, French, or Spanish) is strongly recommended. Students must consult with the Dean of Academics before selection of courses for their junior year.
12th Grade
The 12th grade program includes English, American Government, Upper School P.E., and other requirements still to be fulfilled for graduation. In order to ensure completion of graduation requirements and for college planning purposes, students must consult with the Dean of Academics before selection of courses for the senior year.
ONE SCHOOLHOUSE
Students are encouraged to take courses through the One Schoolhouse by contacting the Dean of Academics & Faculty and seeking approval for registration. Students may earn no more than one credit per year through online courses and must have these credits pre-approved in order for the credits to count on a La Pietra transcript for graduation.
