La Pietra Wears Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness

September 29th, 2021

Students and faculty wore pink on Sept. 29 to spread breast cancer awareness

Every two minutes, a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer in the U.S. That is just one of the sobering facts shared this week as our school community aimed to spread awareness about the disease ahead of October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

On Wednesday, September 29, instead of the everyday blue polos, pink of all shades filled the campus as students and faculty alike donned their pink shirts, sweaters, and dresses. And did we mention pink wigs and tutus? After a co-curr presentation on Monday where students were able to learn more about breast cancer, the La Pietra community came together to show support for survivors and those currently fighting during this impactful "We Wear Pink on Wednesdays" event.

If you are looking to learn more about the disease and help to spread awareness, you can find additional resources from the Susan G. Komen Foundation here:

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and you can take the fight against the disease to the next level by participating in this year's Susan G. Komen Hawaii Race for the Cure. Due to COVID-19 concerns, there will not be an in-person gathering. The 2021 Komen Hawaii Race for the Cure will be held on Sunday, October 17, so join the La Pietra PINK PANTHERS today!
