October 22nd, 2021

The 2021 Wahine Forum is coming up on Oct. 27-29, and La Pietra has been a proud supporter for over a decade. As Hawaii's largest leadership and career development conference for women, the forum serves as an invaluable resource for our community and a platform to support local women leaders.

Reframe your "weaknesses" into superpowers

Seniors Mia C. and Dayna N. introduce the panel: "Reframe Your 'Weaknesses' into Superpowers"

We often gloss over what we view as our weaknesses, but what if we took a more intentional approach to the skills and qualities that make us “weak?”

On Oct. 29 at 8:30 a.m., tune into this lively discussion as panelists Janice Ikeda, Brigadier General Jennifer Short, Sangita Woerner and Susan Yamada examine why these traits are viewed as “weak” and discover the positive impacts of flipping your internal narrative, so that your perceived “weaknesses” can serve as the greatest source of your strength.

We are proud to say that this talk will also feature an introduction by La Pietra students: Seniors Mia C. and Dayna N.

Former State Legislator & U.S. Congresswoman Pat Saiki interviewed at La Pietra for the Wahine Forum's Fireside Chat premiering Oct. 28

Grab a cup of coffee (or tea) and join us for the Fireside Chat on the Great Lawn starting at 8:30 a.m. on Oct. 28! Watch as Former State Legislator & U.S. Congresswoman Pat Saiki and Hawaii Business Reporter Robbie Dingeman share personal stories of perseverance, resilience, and grace.

Patricia Saiki, a third-generation Japanese-American school teacher and mom from Hawaii, overturned the status quo to become a state legislator, a U.S. Congresswoman, head of the U.S. Small Business Administration — and an effective Republican in a decidedly Democrat state.

She exerted enormous influence and advocated for women’s rights during six decades of public service.
