La Pietra unveils latest school magazine themed "Ho'omau"

November 1st, 2021

Look out for your copy of the latest La Pietra Days magazine in the mail! With the theme ho'omau, the Hawaiian word for resilience, the issue serves to showcase the strength of our school community during an unprecedented year.

"Ho‘omau is not merely to persist or persevere, but to do so in a way that makes one more resilient over time and, by extension, more courageous," said Head of School Josh Watson.

As you peruse this year's issue, many will recognize Vianca Mae Dacumos '21, who graces this year's cover. It also features stories on Athletics Director Ross Kinsler and how he led the athletics department through the ever-changing conditions of the sports world during a pandemic. In its pages, you will also read stories about our alumnae, including Cecilia Chung '09, who spoke at the class of 2021's graduation, and Diana Carty '77, who shared her story of finding purpose in the healthcare industry and being on the front lines of the pandemic in Seattle.

"Together, we adapted and we overcame - ho‘omau," said Watson. "This is how I know that if, by some awful stroke of luck, we find ourselves in another pandemic or some other disruptive situation, we will be able to face it with the confidence that comes from having weathered a storm and witnessed the ensuing calm. "

We are so proud to see the stories of our school and students printed for the world to read. Mahalo for making our community such a special place! For our alumnae, if you did not receive a copy in the mail, please update your contact information here.
