Ashley Huang '08, as part of the local artist collective "Super Awesome Art Squad," or "SAAS-y Moves," will be showing an exciting new kinetic art exhibition at Cedar Street Galleries from March 11 - April 8. It will be available to view both online and in-person.
To create this exhibition, Huang joins artists Allyn Goo, Daven Hee, Calvin Lac, Emily Lee, Joy Sanchez, Lisa Shiroma, Mariko Merritt, Daniel Stratis, and Jon Vongvichai. Huang's artwork intertwines personal narratives, natural forms, and weaving her growing fascination for Eastern cultural artifacts with queer visibility.
Huang is currently a Master of Fine Arts candidate at Emily Carr University in Vancouver, Canada. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Sculpture (focused in ceramics) from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa.
Today, she works as an art educator at Punahou School. Huang is also a ceramic instructor & studio assistant at the Honolulu Museum of Art School.
