National Museum Day: Celebrating the Honolulu Museum of Art

May 18th, 2022

May 18 is celebrated as National Museum Day, and we are proud to say that a number of our alumnae and parents are part of the Honolulu Museum of Art (HoMA) family!

Kim Hutchison is the Head of Visitor Engagement at HoMA. Her love of art was encouraged and flourished during her years at La Pietra, leading her to the University of Hawaii at Manoa (UHM) where she completed dual degrees in English and Art History. During her time at UHM, she studied abroad in both Paris and Florence, where she was an intern at the Museo dei Ragazzi.

After volunteering at the then Honolulu Academy of Arts during her final year in college, Kim was hired to work in Volunteer and Visitor Services at HoMA.

Now in her tenth year, she oversees all aspects of Visitor Engagement at the museum. Her career focus has always centered around connecting community and art.

You can read more about Kim in "The Women's Issue" of Honolulu Magazine here. The edition from April 2022 features a look at some of the influential and inspiring women who helped to shape the landscape of our islands.

In addition to Kim, seven other women from our La Pietra community were highlighted, including current seniors Victoria H. and La Dayne P., alumnae Lynne Toyofuku '75, Debbie Weil-Manuma '75, and Catherine Ako '06, and faculty and staff members Mrs. Gay Chinen and Dr. Kate Kane.
