La Pietra Days Magazine: The Impact of An All-Girls Education

November 6th, 2023

LA PIETRA DAYS MAGAZINE (2023)

Impact. It’s when a teacher stays after school to help you understand the difference between active and passive voice, when you share a joke with a friend, when you produce a play with 30 other theater lovers... Tiny events like these blend together to make a big impact.

It's the culmination of these La Pietra experiences that helped Kaya Heimowtz ’20 chase her passion for Chinese language and culture all the way to Taiwan, creating a life for herself in another country.

Kristie Han ’00 graduated from La Pietra, setting herself on a path that would lead her back years later to serve as Dean of Students and impact the lives of future generations. You’ll also read about Mayara Schürer '23. While growing up in Switzerland, her passion for marine biology seemed so far out of reach. With the help of faculty members who supported her ambition, her dreams are now becoming a reality. Thanks to her experience at La Pietra, she’s on a path to make real change in the world.

Each is making an impact by living out their purpose as they themselves have defined.

For nearly 60 years, La Pietra has been uplifting young women to become confident, compassionate, purpose-driven individuals. La Pietra has a rich history of producing successful and influential alumnae who have excelled in their chosen fields. Our graduates are doctors, lawyers, writers, educators and business leaders. They are artists and entrepreneurs, activists and humanitarians. They are generous and engaged. La Pietra – Hawai‘i School for Girls has left an indelible mark on generations of young women, providing them with an education that is both empowering and transformative.
